restore from backup
I reviewed your documentation regarding backup from itunes --
and followed the process. However, my phone restored every app from
the backup except the data on momento. Everything is lost. Is there
any remedy? I have tried every backup available and still it comes
up without the data.
Please help.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your data. As the backup process is Apple based, we cannot provide direct support for the process itself. We can only recommend following the documentation carefully on Apple's website for backing up and restoring your device (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414).
Out of interest, did you manually delete any of the applications before restoring - either on the phone its self or via iTunes? Manually deleting applications will lead to the loss of data for that application. Prior to restoring your phone, iTunes will make a final backup which will overwrite the existing backup and therefore completely removing a backup of data for any applications manually deleted.
Unfortunately there is no way to restore your data if you have no usable backups.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We are working on an additional independent backup/import/export feature for version 1.1 to help reduce the chances of data loss.
Best regards,
Ollie

Oliver,
Thanks for your prompt response.
Unfortunately, I did not manually delete any of the applications
before restoring.
I loved momento and used it regularly -- until I had to restore from
backup due to an unrelated problem with my iphone. I followed the
instructions diligently about backing up before restoring. However,
none of my data was returned.
I appreciate that you are looking for a better solution to allow
independent backup/restore/import/export. In the meantime, I will be
searching for another journaling solution.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,
Sorry to hear that your data seems to be lost after the backup & restore. Can I just confirm whether or not your iPhone is jail-broken?
Many thanks,
Michael

No. I have definitely not jail-broken the phone.
Here was the unrelated iphone issue (if it helps in your diagnosis).
For some reason the iphone started saying "no signal" with no remedy
-- nothing happened to cause this. I backed it up and took it to the
apple store. They confirmed that they tried everything and could not
resolve the issue and recommended that I (1) try a complete restore
and (2) try another sim card. If that didn't work, they told me I
would need to purchase a new phone. I backed it up again and tried
the complete restore. The restore did return everything except
momento but didn't resolve the underlying issue (and also removed all
of my momento records which I thought were backed up). I have also
tried another sim card with no help. As a result, I will need to
consider the purchase of a new phone. ugh. For some reason, the
whole idea seems worse since I don't have my momento journal any more.
I hope that this becomes less of an issue in future versions. Right
now I am considering purchasing momo as it allows for on-line backup
and sync. I much prefer momento... but I cannot set myself up for
this kind of disappointment again.
Thanks for your continued attention to this matter.
Elizabeth
